The 1969–70 Harty Cup was the 50th staging of the Harty Cup since its establishment by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1918.[1] The competition ran from 19 October 1969 to 22 March 1970.
St Finbarr's College were the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Limerick CBS in the first round.[2][3] In a change to recent years, teams were reduced from 15 to 13-a-side.
The Harty Cup final was played on 22 March 1970 at Dr Mannix Sportsfield in Charleville, between North Monastery and Limerick CBS, in what was their fourth meeting in the final overall and a first meeting in 15 years. North Monastery won the match by 6–05 to 4–07 to claim their 14th Harty Cup title overall and a first title in nine years.[4][5]
North Monastery's Gerry Hanley was the top scorer with 6–10.
